Meet the Artist

Tuva Stefansen Hamnes (b. 2001) is an interdisciplinary artist from Brønnøysund, based in Oslo. She studied at Einar Granum School of Art and the Oslo National Academy of the Arts.

Hamnes works with textiles, sculpture, installation and painting. Her work often begins with a thought, a feeling or a personal experience. Through observations of her surroundings and her own emotional life, she explores states of being and situations that are easily overlooked or rarely given space. The choice of materials plays an important role in how her ideas and moods take shape.

Although her artistic expression varies across different mediums, painting has always been a central part of her practice. Here, Hamnes explores moods intuitively, drawing inspiration from nature, colours and abstract forms. Her work moves between the recognisable and the undefined, inviting different ways of experiencing and interpreting the motifs.
